The Annapurna Khopra Trek is a popular trekking route in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It offers stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, as well as the chance to experience the local culture and hospitality of the Gurung people.

Khopra Hill, also known as Danda, is an emerging trekking route in the Annapurna region, offering a peaceful and off-beat experience. Located in the northeastern part of Pokhara, neighboring Kaski and Myagdi districts, this newly discovered spot attracts those seeking tranquility and uniqueness.

The trekking route leads through dense forests adorned with rhododendrons and oak trees, creating a captivating ambiance. Along the way, trekkers are treated to breathtaking views of prominent peaks such as Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Nilgiri. One of the highlights is a day hike to the holy Khayer Lake, a truly enchanting experience that offers an outstanding close-up view of Annapurna South.

Annapurna Khopra Trek Itinerary
 
 
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 meters)
 
– Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city.
– Check into your hotel and rest after your journey.
– Explore the vibrant streets of Thamel and prepare for your trek.
 
Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 meters)
 
– Drive (9-10h) or fly (45 minutes) to Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside city.
– Enjoy a relaxing afternoon by Phewa Lake.
 
Day 3: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1,540 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 4-5 hours
– Drive to Nayapul and start your trek to Tikhedhunga.
– Pass through villages and terraced fields, with views of the Annapurna and Machapuchare peaks.
 
Day 4: Tikhedhunga (1,540 meters) to Ghorepani (2,850 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 6-7 hours
– Hike uphill to reach Ulleri, a picturesque village.
– Continue through dense rhododendron forests.
– Arrive at Ghorepani, a charming village with stunning mountain views.
 
Day 5: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 meters) to Tadapani (2,630 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 6-7 hours
– Early morning hike to Poon Hill for a sunrise view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
– Return to Ghorepani for breakfast and then trek to Tadapani.
– Enjoy forested trails and scenic vistas along the way.
 
Day 6: Tadapani to Bayeli Kharka (3,420 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 6-7 hours
– Trek through lush forests and rhododendron groves.
– Ascend to Bayeli Kharka, a pastureland with panoramic mountain views.
 
Day 7: Bayeli Kharka to Upper Chistibung (3,150 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 4-5 hours
– Trek through alpine meadows and admire the rugged beauty of the region.
– Arrive at Upper Chistibung, a remote village in the heart of the Annapurna region.
 
Day 8: Upper Chistibung to Khopra Danda (3,660 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 4-5 hours
– Ascend to Khopra Danda, a viewpoint offering spectacular vistas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains.
– Explore the Khayer Lake if you have the energy and time.
 
Day 9: Khopra Danda to Swanta (2,220 meters)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 5-6 hours
– Descend through forests and terraced fields to reach Swanta, a traditional Gurung village.
 
Day 10: Swanta to Ghandruk (1950m)
 
– Walking hours: approximately 6-7 hours
– Enjoy the beautiful village with traditional houses and stunning mountain views
– Spend the night in Ghandruk.
 
Day 11: Ghandruk to Nayapul (1,070 meters) and Drive to Pokhara
 
– Walking hours: approximately 2-3 hours
– Descend to Nayapul, passing through beautiful villages.
– Drive back to Pokhara and relax by the lakeside.
 
Day 12: Pokhara to Kathmandu
 
– Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
– Enjoy some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kathmandu.
– Depart from Kathmandu or extend your stay to explore more of Nepal.
