TRIP DETAILS

The Annapurna Base Camp trek, also known as the ABC trek, is one of Nepal’s most popular trekking routes, offering a combination of stunning natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and breathtaking mountain vistas.

It is a short/medium length trek and is suitable for beginners. It can be combined with the short Poon Hill Trek to admire one of the best viewpoints of the entire Himalayas.

Prominent Peaks:
1. Annapurna I (8,091 meters / 26,545 feet): The trek takes you deep into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural amphitheater surrounded by some of the world’s highest peaks. Annapurna I is the main attraction, and you’ll have a fantastic view of this majestic mountain from the base camp.

2. Machapuchare (Fish Tail) (6,993 meters / 22,943 feet): Machapuchare is another iconic peak along the trail. It’s considered sacred and unclimbed by the locals. The trek offers a stunning view of its distinctive fishtail shape.

Trek Highlights:
Gurung and Magar Villages: Along the way, you’ll pass through charming Gurung and Magar villages, including Chhomrong. These communities have their own unique cultures, languages, and traditions, and you can experience their warm hospitality and sample local cuisine.

Hot Springs at Jhinu Danda: After a day of trekking, you can relax in natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda, a cultural and natural highlight of the trek. It’s a great opportunity to unwind and socialize with fellow trekkers.

Buddhist Monasteries: The trek passes by several Buddhist monasteries and prayer wheels. You can observe the local religious practices and even participate in prayer sessions if you wish.

The trek to Annapurna Base Camp offers a diverse range of landscapes, from lush rhododendron forests in the lower regions to alpine meadows and glacial moraines as you approach the base camp. The combination of natural beauty, cultural interactions, and the chance to witness some of the world’s highest peaks makes the Annapurna Base Camp trek a truly unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Himalayas.
