The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the best long-distance trekking circuits in the world, leading trekkers through the entire Annapurna massif and culminating in the challenging and breathtaking Thorong La Pass. This trek is an incredible journey that offers a chance to explore the natural beauty of the Himalayas, from lush subtropical forests to rice-terraced fields and the world’s deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki.
The trek begins in Besisahar and traverses through the Marsyangdi river valley, presenting trekkers with stunning views of the Annapurna and Himalchuli mountains. Along the way, trekkers will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with diverse ethnic communities and cultures, and to see firsthand how these communities have preserved their traditional lifestyles for centuries. The trail also passes through the magnificent Manang Valley and parts of the lower Mustang, where traces of Tibetan influence can be sensed.
The circuit offers an excellent opportunity to see some of the most beautiful and majestic mountain ranges in the world, including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak. The trek also visits the sacred site of Muktinath, which is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.
The trek is of moderate difficulty and suitable for beginners in good physical conditions. The rewards are well worth it, with spectacular views of the sublime beauty of the mighty Himalayas and the chance to explore a rich and diverse culture.

Day 1: Kathmandu to Besi Sahar (1300m)
– Drive 9-10 hours by bus or private vehicle
– Possible to take the transport from Pokhara
Day 2: Besi Sahar (820m) to Jagat (1300m)
– Walking hours: approximately 6-7 hours
– Start your trek from Besi Sahar, the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit.
– Hike through lush forests and picturesque villages.
– Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Marsyangdi River and terraced fields along the way.
Day 3: Jagat (1300m) to Dharapani (1860m)
– Walking hours: approximately 6-7 hours
– Trek through rhododendron forests and cross suspension bridges.
– Arrive in Dharapani, a beautiful village perched at an altitude of 1860 meters.
– Begin to feel the change in scenery and climate as you gain elevation.
Day 4: Dharapani (1860m) to Chame (2670m)
– Walking hours: approximately 5-6 hours
– Continue your ascent through dense forests and charming villages.
– Arrive in Chame, the district headquarters of Manang, at an elevation of 2670 meters.
– Enjoy panoramic views of the Annapurna and Lamjung Himal ranges.
Day 5: Chame (2670m) to Upper Pisang (3300m)
– Walking hours: approximately 5-6 hours
– Trek along the Marsyangdi River and through pine forests.
– Reach Upper Pisang, a village with stunning views of Annapurna II and IV at 3300 meters.
– Visit the old Pisang village and its beautiful monasteries.
Day 6: Upper Pisang (3300m) to Manang (3540m)
– Walking hours: approximately 5-6 hours
– Continue your journey towards Manang, crossing the Marsyangdi River.
– Manang is a major village on the circuit at an altitude of 3540 meters.
– Spend the day acclimatizing and exploring the village.
Day 7: Acclimatization Day in Manang (3540m)
– Take a rest day in Manang to acclimatize to the higher altitude.
– You can take short hikes to nearby viewpoints or explore the local culture.
– Visit the Gangapurna Lake and the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic.
Day 8: Manang (3540m) to Yak Kharka (4018m)
– Walking hours: approximately 3-4 hours
– Resume your trek towards Yak Kharka, gaining more altitude.
– Yak Kharka is a small settlement at 4018 meters, surrounded by lush grazing pastures.
Day 9: Yak Kharka (4018m) to Thorong Phedi (4450m)
– Walking hours: approximately 3-4 hours
– Trek to Thorong Phedi, the last village before the Thorong La Pass.
– The altitude here is 4450 meters, and it’s essential to take it easy and acclimatize.
Day 10: Thorong Phedi (4450m) to Muktinath (3800m) via Thorong La Pass (5416m)
– Walking hours: approximately 8-9 hours
– Early start for the challenging ascent to Thorong La Pass at 5416 meters.
– After reaching the pass, descend to Muktinath at 3800 meters.
– Visit the sacred Muktinath Temple and enjoy the natural hot springs.
Day 11: Muktinath (3800m) to Jomsom (2720m)
– Walking hours: approximately 5-6 hours
– Descend further to Jomsom, a popular town in the region.
– Jomsom is located at an altitude of 2720 meters and is known for its apple orchards.
– You can celebrate the completion of the Annapurna Circuit trek in Jomsom.
Day 12: Jomsom (2720m) to Pokhara (820m) or Kathmandu
– Take a short flight or drive to Pokhara, a picturesque city by the lake.
– Relax in Pokhara and enjoy the comforts of civilization after the trek.
